My friend's Poem!

So my good friend, Ashley Berrett, from years ago made a blog for her writing and on it was this poem.  I loved it!!! So I'm sharing this with all of you.  If you like it you should be sure to check out her blog which should soon be filled with more awesome writing.  Love you all and without further ado...I present:
grape juice and mud puddles

you're my favorite kind of natural disaster --
famous for horizontal rain and
forcing palm trees into death arches.

(are you proud of what you've done to me
or do you want to come back for one more
crushing tidal wave?)
=
you're my favorite kind of chipped china --
stone-cold beneath writhing flower wreaths
and scratched by forks, but still delicate.

(maybe you wouldn't be broken if
i'd left you in the cabinet like they told me to.)
=
you're my favorite kind of grape-juice stain --
a permanent ellipse of watered-down fruit
in the fibers of my best shirt.

(i wear you like a badge of honor
even though you were a mistake.)
=
you're my favorite kind of nosebleed --
a brilliant shade of gushing crimson
and dramatic enough to make me light-headed.

(you sent me straight to the bottom of
the tissue box because you just. wouldn't. stop.)
=
you're my favorite kind of mud puddle --
mysterious, just deep enough,
and worthy of a good yellow-boot splash.

(you soaked me to the bone and now
i'm damp to the very marrow.)
=
but after everything,
you might be surprised to know
that you are my favorite kind of memory --
a nagging though that i'll soon forget.

(sometimes it's a blessing that
we can't relive the past.)

Random Musings at Odd Hours of the Morning

So it's currently 3:22 in the morning and I'm watching Leap Year all alone because Tanika had her "friend" come over.  Now as odd as it may seem, watching chick flicks tends to make you think about certain things. Things like what you want to eat for breakfast or what the weather's like outside...but for me, the most prominent thing on my mind is, well, "true love".

I mean a lot of girls waste their lives watching movies that feature the classic two people meet, two people fall in love, and BAM they end up living happily ever after. Girls (me included) watch these movies because, like someone smart told me, we want to live vicariously through the heroines life and romance. Because the pure, true romances that happen in the movies are the kind of romances we dream about and we wish our lives could play out like such movies.

BUT...we don't always see the heartbreak and mess of stuff that leads up to that perfect love. And in spite of those movies...there came a time when I kind of started to lose hope in the male species...I mean I don't want to sound like a cynic, but there comes a time when you've met jerk after jerk that you just wonder if there's a decent guy anywhere out there. I mean it's not like I'm looking for a prince dressed in shining armor that's going to go out and fight a dragon or save me from being locked in a tower. I simply want a guy that is willing to maybe, I dunno, open a door for me? Tell me I'm beautiful for no reason? And if it's not too much to ask, maybe a guy that will actually stick around because he actually cares? Maybe that is too much to ask....and I know, I'm probably not old enough, or it's not the right time, or whatnot...but still. I gotta have something to hope for right? But oh well....

I should probably stop whining about my romantic blunders.  So on to better things.  Like ice cream of the mint chocolate chip persuasion. It's perfect on many levels. Kind of like an onion of perfection! *insert cheesy grin here*  Now on that note...I think I might just go frolicking in the snow for no other reason than...well...I don't really have a reason...oh well!  Love you all :) and thanks for listening to my ranting if you made it this far. Sweet Dreams and Peace on Earth and all that wonderous Jazz.

Haiku

In order to get in touch with my inner Japanese poet, and because I'm home alone and too lazy to do something better, I'm going to write a haiku!! Yay me!

Ahem...

Snowflakes fall at night,
Black ice is slick on the ground.
The ice weasels come.

Ta DA!!! Boy do I feel accomplished.  And for those of you who don't know, the ice weasels come is a line from a quote that makes me laugh every time I read it.  In fact, I think I will share said quote with you!

It is as follows:

"Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath.  At night the ice weasels come." -Matt Groening

I don't think I'll ever fully understand this message but for the the time being, I shall laugh my heart out when I read it.

And that is my inspiration-filled corner for the day! Enjoy. Over and out.

P.S. Blizzards are such a nuisance.

Dreaming

So I just felt in the mood to share some of my favorite picture quotes because after all, I live through quotes that seem to fit my life perfectly. Everyone needs a hope boost at some time and that time is right now for me...cheesy I know but whatever...they're good quotes :)

For the record:

This is a warning to all those considering building a nest in their living rooms. Such a nest is EXTREMELY addicting. You will get sucked in for hours and lose most motivation to do anything that would require actual thought or the putting forth of effort. With that I will resume my laziness in the nest. Thank you for your time :)

100ish Things About Me :)

For lack of anything else to do, and stealing the idea from my dear friend Tanika, I will proceed to attempt to write down 100 things about myself. Ready Go!

1. I love neon bright colors. Any of them. Lime Green is probably my most favorite one though, Electric Blue is good too though.

2. Ice Cream is the most delicious satisfying food in the world.  I love it. So much.  And mint chocolate chip is the BEST!!

3. I worked at Payless Shoesource for a year of my life because, yes, I love shoes!  I'm not a huge fan of designer shoes and stilettos and such.  I actually prefer sneakers and converse, vans, flip-flops and those kinds.  My lime green converse are one of my favorites!

4. I attend UVU and love it!  I couldn't have picked a better school for me.

5. Dr. Pepper is definitely an addiction I have.  I love it and will drink it any time of the day/night/etc.  SOOOO good.  And it is in fact the only brown soda that I will drink.  I don't like root beer, pepsi, coke, and any other drink that's brown.

6. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people act or treat you one way when you're alone but in a completely different way when they're with their friends (AKA two-faced).  It pisses me off.  I mean we all conform a little depending on the people we're around, but when you're two completely different people...Just leave me alone.

7. I have a celebrity crush on Ewan McGregor and Jonny Depp.  I love them!  I mean who wouldn't want a hot singing Jedi master or an attractive pirate that can also sing?  My point exaclty!  Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman are also very very high up on that list!

8.  My favorite Director/Producer/Actor/Actress combination would have to be Tim Burton, Jonny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter.  I love everything that has all three involved.  I also just love anything by Tim Burton, period.

9.  I love musicals and I wish I could sing well enough to get a lead in one.  I love the music, the whole spectacular of Broadway, I just love everything about them.

10.  New York City is one of my top two favorite places in the world.  I've only been there once but I loved it and didn't want to leave.  I love the lights, the sounds, smells, buildings, the people, Broadway. It's just an amazing city and I definitely want to live there someday.

11. My other favorite place is the beach.  Any warm, sandy, beach.  I love the ocean and if I could live on a beach, I would be quite content with my life.

12. I was born in California and lived there the first 7 1/2 years of my life.  I love it and it will always have a place in my heart.

13. I now live in Utah...and there is no way I will spend the rest of my life here.  I won't say I hate it...but I certainly don't like it.

14. One thing I fear more than anything else is to be completely utterly alone and having no one to turn to when things go wrong.

15. Due to number 14, I love people.  I love crowds, I love meeting new people and making new friends.

16. I try not to judge people at first glance.  It's hard but I try my best to get to know someone before I stick them with a label.  I don't always succeed at this but I promise I'm trying.

17. I am not super opinionated.  I have my views, but I don't make a point of pushing them on people.

18.  I am a listener.  This can be mistaken as shyness.  But I have found that I learn things by listening and if I don't have something to say, I probably won't say anything.

19. But when I do have something to say, I will say it.

20. I always want to be able to completely trust my friends.  This makes me a very trusting person...but once you break that trust, I'm much more careful with it.

21. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, a belief that has come back to bite me several times and yet I still believe in it.

22. I don't often spill my guts about personal matters but I will answer most any question you feel the desire to ask.

23. I love music. It gets me through the good, the bad and the ugly.  I listen to pretty much anything, I'm not super picky.

24. I love going for walks in the middle of the night.  It gives me a chance to think that I don't get any other time of the day.

25. Rain is my favorite!! I love playing in puddles, dancing, singing, the whole shebang.

26. I live through quotes.  There's quotes that fit my life perfectly, there's inspirational ones that give me hope, there's funny ones that make me laugh, and then there's just the ones you don't really know what to do with. This is why we have a quote wall in our apartment.

27. I have a slight French Vanilla Cappuccino addiction.  It has to be gas station brand, none of that expensive Starbucks stuff :P

28. I can remember song lyrics like it's nobody's business.  But when it comes to facts for school....I can't keep those in my brain longer than 10 minutes lol

29. Lion King is by far my most favorite Disney movie of all time!  Hands down.  I can quote just about the whole thing.  I love it sooo much!

30. I have also seen Lion King on Broadway and it was AMAZING!!! I loved it as much as I loved the movie!

31. I can also quote movies very well.  It's a gift :) I'll quote battle anyone at anytime!

32. My first car was a white Plymouth Voyager (mini van) and it was the best car ever.  I loved it soo much! It was perfect for everything: partying, driving, ....

33.The word pudding is impossible for me to say without smiling and/or giggling. Go ahead, try and say it with a frown.

34. I am for the most part, super ticklish. It's bad...

35. I owned horses for five years and I love horseriding.

36. I have had three dogs, two cats, a frog, a bird, beta fish, three horses, goldfish, and a kitten all throughout the course of my life.

37. I am a speed demon when it comes to driving.  I've gotten 2 speeding tickets and have made very many of my friends fear for their lives when getting in my car.

38. I don't watch tv very much, but there are a few shows that I am an avid follower of thanks to the internet.  These shows include CSI:NY, House, How I Met Your Mother, and The Big Bang Theory.

39. I have the mentality of a 5 year old. Hang out with me and you will see this in action.

40. I love shiny objects.

41. I have a VERY short attention span....which is not always a good thing.

42. People watching is a guilty pleasure of mine...well not really a guilty one since I don't feel guilty for it at all.

43. I enjoy playing Halo and other such video games with guys.  I'm not super good but I'm better than a lot of girls.

44. I can make some pretty good sandwiches :) (take note of that sandwich loving guys)

45. I love baking.  Brownies are my specialty!

46. Spiders are just not ok.

47. I trip while standing still. True story. I trip up and down stairs, I trip over my own feet, and I have problems walking in a straight line.  Let's face it, I'm not a balanced person.

48. In spite of number 47, I took dance for ten years and hope to resume classes this fall. I love it. Dance is one of my favorite ways of expression.

49. I took piano lessons for nine years and I love Love LOVE it. I really wish I had my grand piano at college with me, but sadly, I don't :(

50. I have arguments with myself out loud.  It's easier for me to come to a conclusion that way, but my roommates make fun of me when I do.

51. As much as I hate to admit it, my computer and cell phone are very much a part of my life.

52. From past experiences, I have learned that I should never become a druggie or alcoholic due to the fact that I relapse very very quickly.

53. One of my life goals is to slide down a huge spiral banister.

54. I like to use fancy words intermittently throughout my speech. 'Ergo' is a favorite.

55. I love hats. I definitely have a hat fetish.  If I see a guy wearing a hat, I have to find out if he's good looking and if he his I am interested immediately.  In other words, if a guy can pull off a hat, he definitely has my attention.

56. I am a night owl.  I very very rarely get a full nine hours of sleep. Usually I am up till past two doing random crap.

57. I believe that 56 is causing me to have very poor health habits and is possibly killing me.

58. I want a purebred black and white Husky with blue eyes.  That is my dream dog. And my mom promised me she'd bet me one as a wedding present and I am holding her to that.

Beautiful.

Tail lights, lights, rain on my windshield, cool, wet, groovy, Seattle, Washington, USA

Thanks to a friend introducing me to Google Reader (Thanks Parker) I am now subscribed to several random sites, one of which is an abstract art one.  During my browsing, I found this picture and I love it.  I love the rain.  It has always been a source of inspiration for me.  I feel calm and, in a way, free when I'm in it.  This picture stuck out to me because it uses rain to change an average part of life (taillights in traffic) into a work of art.  It's kind of how in my life, rain helps me take the confusing and hectic parts of my life, and while not completely clearing them up, it turns them into something I can appreciate a little bit more and see the good side of them.  But ya, that's what came to mind when I saw this picture...now let's go play in the rain! :)

First Blog Post Ever!!

So I have friends, relatives, and random strangers that I happen to encounter that all tell me how much they love blogging, and what goes on in their blogs and all this great stuff about the wonderful world of blogs.  So....I decided to see what all the excitement was about! So here's my first blog post on my first blog EVER!  But goodness...I just don't know what to say....I guess I'll just tell you more about me.  I live with three awesome girls: Brielle, Kelly, and Tanika.  The first I don't know much about due to the fact that she spends a lot of time in her room but for the most part she's awesome!  The second roommate who I love dearly introduced me to the wonderful underwater world of scuba diving!  Together we went to the Catalina/Santa Barbara Islands for a live aboard boat and scuba diving trip!! It was FANTASTIC! A lot because I love Love LOVE the beach and summer and sun and AH! Favorite!  But anyway. This same roommate also taught me the art of driving a stick shift.  I'm pretty much pro :) Okay, not really but I'm not bad for a limited time learning but pretty sure I am definitely pro at making the car squeal at take off!  But to sum it up, that girl is spectacular and is the Jelly to my PB&J and I love her.  The Peanut Butter to my PB&J is my third roommate.  She is OBSESSED (this is no exaggeration) with Barbra Streisand.  She knows everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! about her and we are currently watching Barbra on Oprah for the first time in YEARS and she is basically freaking out.  It's fantastic.  I love her :) We go on two in the morning trips to Walmart, we slide down frost covered grass hills, and we sleep in our nest of couches :) She is amazing!  I love them all and together we make a delicious awesome Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich of love!  And that's a little bit about my life.  More to come in the near future! And p.s. I LOVE quotes so get used to seeing them everywhere.
